Brandon Sheppard muscles to fourth in FALS Frenzy at Fairbury
Friday night found Brandon Sheppard in action at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) aboard his Sheppard Riggs Racing No. B5 Late Model for the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series-sanctioned Hoosier Dirt Classic.
Racing into the A-Main with a runner-up result in his heat race, the New Berlin, Ill., native pulled the seventh-starting spot for the opener in the redraw. Chasing a $10,000 payday, early contact with an infield tire while challenging for fourth slowed his momentum and eventually led to a 17th-place finish. He pitted on lap 27 but was never able to rally.
For the FALS Frenzy on Saturday at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Brandon clocked in fifth-fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Starting the $15,000-to-win A-Main in 10th, Sheppard steered forward six positions in the 50-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Bobby Pierce, Nick Hoffman, and Chris Madden to the checkers with Kyle Bronson coming in fifth.
Brandon remains in third in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
