Overton caps North/South 100 with eighth-place finish
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) kicked off its August slate over the weekend with the 43rd annual Sunoco North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil at Kentucky’s Florence Speedway.
With results from twin preliminaries on Thursday and Friday determining Saturday’s heat lineups, Overton opened the week strong, backing up a runner-up finish in Thursday’s feature with a third-place effort in Friday’s 25-lapper.
Lining up on the second row of his heat race Saturday, Overton powered from fourth to first to secure his spot in the $75,000-to-win main event, where he went on to record an eighth-place finish in the 100-lap finale.
Overton remains seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
