Brandon Overton rules South Georgia Showdown opener at Needmore
Home-state driver Brandon Overton joined the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Georgia's Needmore Speedway this past weekend as the tour opened its 2026 campaign with the South Georgia Showdown.
Despite Mother Nature cutting the event short, Overton made the most of the limited weekend. He kicked things off by posting the fourth-fastest qualifying time and finishing second in his heat race. In the feature, Overton charged past Ryan Gustin for the lead on lap 11 and never looked back, capturing his first victory of the season by 4.625 seconds over brother Cody Overton, with Joseph Joiner rounding out the podium. The triumph was worth $10,000.
The remainder of the weekend was washed out due to inclement weather.
