Brandon Overton adds four Top-5's in Winter Nationals at Ocala Speedway
The weeklong Wieland Winter Nationals at the newly renamed Ocala (FL) Speedway brought Brandon Overton and the Riggs Motorsports team to the Sunshine State on Tuesday afternoon for five consecutive nights of racing.
With Tuesday's program designated as a non-points event, Overton led his group in time trials before securing a heat race victory. The Evans, Georgia driver set the pace early in the feature, but as he navigated through lapped traffic, he was overtaken, ultimately settling for a second-place finish at the checkers.
After turning in a fifth-place finish on Wednesday, Brandon extended his streak of top-5 finishes, securing runner-up honors in Thursday’s $10,000-to-win feature.
On Friday, Overton struggled to find his rhythm in the 50-lap A-Main, fading to 14th at the finish.
The Wieland Winter Nationals concluded for Brandon and the Riggs Motorsports team on Saturday with a sixth-to-fourth showing in the $25,000-to-win finale. He chased Devin Moran, Jonathan Davenport, and Ricky Thornton Jr. to the checkers with Garrett Alberson coming in fifth.
Brandon sits in fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
