Brandon Overton rallies onto Spring Nationals podium at Tazewell
In preparation for an eastern swing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Brandon Overton invaded the Volunteer State this past weekend for a pair of Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals events.
At I-75 Raceway on Friday, Overton followed up a second-place finish in his heat race with a sixth-place finish in the 53-lap feature.
For Saturday’s Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial at Tazewell Speedway, Brandon was one of several drivers slowed by a flat tire in the main event. Overton looked poised for a statement victory in the $21,000-to-win feature, leading the first 41 laps with authority. However, a right-rear flat tire dashed his hopes of a win. Refusing to back down, Overton mounted a fierce comeback to salvage a third-place finish in the 75-lap affair, joining race-winner Tyler Erb and runner-up Jimmy Owens on the podium.
