Top-10 finish in Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Georgetown
Brandon Overton and the Riggs Motorsports Longhorn Factory Team made the trip to Georgetown (DE) Speedway on Friday for the third annual Melvin L. Joseph Memorial, kicking off a three-race Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) weekend.
Overton emerged strong in a 27-car field, securing a heat race win to earn a front-row starting spot in the $20,049-to-win main event. He led the first 21 laps before slipping back to finish seventh at the checkered flag.
The tour continued Saturday at Hagerstown (MD) Speedway for the Conococheague 50, where mechanical issues cut Overton’s night short. Power trouble forced him to retire on lap 13 of the $25,000 feature.
Overton closed out the weekend Sunday at Port Royal (PA) Speedway, where he rebounded from a sluggish heat race to advance seven positions in the 40-lap A-Main, ultimately finishing 11th.
Overton is currently fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
